Sustainability
That is what we need in this time of our planet. Yet we consume at a rate so rapid that we will soon need another two planets to keep up with the demands that we put on our earth. (and so far, we don't have any other planets to spare) There are a lot of people out there that are trying to get the message across that we cannot continue to consume products, natural resources at the rate that we are, without it costing the health of our planet, and ultimately, ourselves. Cloe Wittaker and Tyson Jerry are trying to set a world record for the longest journey by car using alternative fuel (in their case, used vegetable oil from local restaurants). Their goals is:
"To create awareness and inspire individuals to realize their personal power in forming individualized choice and a respectful role in nature."

The Story of Stuff

This is a great video written by Annie Leonard about how, after the war, the current model of consumption was created in order to help the economy. It shows a model of how stuff moves through a system, through extraction, production, distribution, to consumption and finally disposal. But it is a fascinating journey and frankly, will help me decide whether I really need that next big "thing" that is advertised on TV.
