Sick of Junk Mail? You can tell Canada Post you don't want it!
The Red Dot campaign.
A woman in BC has set up a website that has a handy form that you can fill out and put in your mail box for your letter carrier to take back to the post office. Apparently it is named after the little red dot that the Post Office puts by your address to indicate that you want to opt out of the junk mail that is sent out. This has been a service available for some time, but not a lot of people know about it. On her site you can also fill out a DO NOT CALL form which will eventually be used to take your number off those lists of annoying sales people who call you as soon as you sit down to supper or to watch your favourite show in the evening!
Some interesting facts:
- 67% of Canadians are not interested in flyers and advertising that comes in the mail.
- 25% of Canadians discard them without reading.
- Ad mail only results in 1 - 2% uptake on the offers.
