Lindsay's 150th Anniversary was a huge success with all the activities that were on. The homecoming, the fair in Victoria Park, all the dancing and midnight madness. I hope that it was a good success for our businesses too and that everyone made some new friends. It was quite exciting to have an elephant walking down Kent Street, and I hope that he/she wasn't too stressed by the experience.
It's nice to see what can be accomplished when people work together for a common goal. We could do with that in our every day transactions. Wouldn't our days be that much more pleasant? Well done to everyone who organised a great weekend.

Helping each other

I recently attended a workshop on web site promotion. It wasn't in connection with this site, but I can always learn. One thing that I came away with was something that I've believed for a while. The colleague I was with for the day asked me who had told me to put links of the competition on "her" web site. I said no one, but it was a good practice. She said she'd have to think about that. We listened to the speaker and he taught us things (or reminded us, if we already knew) of the importance of Alt tags, pages that were easily navigated, up to date content. But the over riding message from him for the day was that we are all in this together and it is good for a company to promote other companies. A web site. is like a service for your clients. If you can help them with your service, then great for you and for them. But if you can't help them, it is nice to be able to forward them on to someone that can. You can't sell everyone. At the end of the day, my colleague totally understood why I had put those links onto the site and was ready to promote other companies as well.
Here on this web site. I don't really sell anything. I am hoping potential visitors to the area will find something of interest to do while in the Kawartha Lakes, or local people will look at the map and figure out where a store is. If you have a business on Kent Street that isn't on the site, please email me and I'll see where I can fit it. If you've emailed me and I haven't responded, then feel free to ask again. I was reminded that we can always help each other out. It will always come back to you threefold.
